Premier League 2021/22 - Predictions 2nd-4th April

This season, the team's predictions will be available in weekly articles and they'll be in competition with a league too!

Read our pundits predictions below

Liverpool v Watford - Saturday 2nd April (12:30pm)

Chris Coughlin

This is another huge game for both sides as we enter the run-in at both ends of the table. Liverpool know they simply can't afford to drop points in their pursuit of the title while Watford need to follow up on their win against Southampton before the break. Mo Salah's also got extra incentive to bounce back from Egypt's World Cup playoff defeat to Senegal as he looks for his tenth goal against the Hornets. Liverpool really should be taking their chance to go top of the table before City take on Burnley.

Prediction: 2-0

Chris Stott: 3-0

Ryan Kirk: 2-0

Harry Reynolds: 4-0

Joe Richardson: 3-0

Brighton v Norwich - Saturday 2nd April (3pm)

Ryan Kirk

Brighton have been fully on the beach in recent weeks given their run of results but the Seagulls, despite their plaudits this season, might just need one or two more results to be absolutely sure of safety. I fancy they'll get one of them against Norwich today who, to be honest, have next to no chance of survival

Prediction: 1-0

Chris Stott: 1-1

Chris Coughlin: 1-0

Harry Reynolds: 1-0

Joe Richardson: 1-2

Burnley v Man City - Saturday 2nd April (3pm)

Harry Reynolds

With the game against Liverpool on the horizon, City will be desperate to get back to winning ways in the league here. It’s amazing that winning only five of eight constitutes a loss of form for Pep Guardiola’s team, but that’s how far ahead themselves and Liverpool are of everyone else. Anything Burnley get from this game is a positive, even if that’s a narrow defeat with a good performance. They won’t be judged on this, and the visit of Everton on Wednesday is much more significant for their chances of survival.

Prediction: 0-1

Chris Stott: 0-3

Chris Coughlin: 0-2

Ryan Kirk: 0-2

Joe Richardson: 0-2

Chelsea v Brentford - Saturday 2nd April (3pm)

Chris Coughlin

Liverpool and Man City aren't the only teams with a major chance for trophies this season - Chelsea are well and truly in the mix for the FA Cup and Champions League. They also won't want to give near neighbours Brentford a famous victory at Stamford Bridge. The Bees will have bigger chances than this to secure their Premier League status for next season.

Prediction: 2-0

Chris Stott: 2-1

Ryan Kirk: 3-0

Harry Reynolds: 2-0

Joe Richardson: 3-0

Leeds v Southampton - Saturday 2nd April (3pm)

Joe Richardson

Leeds’ improbable win at Molineux will have seen them bouncing into the international break, which may have come at the wrong time for Jesse Marsch’s side. Having said that, they don’t have a plethora of international absentees and will have used the time to continue work on Marsch’s methods. The break probably came at the best time for Southampton, who will need to reset after four successive defeats in league and cup. Now with just the league to play, they will need to make sure they don’t let their season peter into a disappointing league position.

Prediction: 2-1

Harry Reynolds

A last-minute winner against Norwich followed by a two-goal comeback at Wolves has surely set Leeds on the path to survival. The picture could look very different if they hadn’t found that late goal and Raul Jimenez had been sent off, and this is another excellent chance to get three points. I can’t work Southampton out for the life of me, they looked great for so long and took points off Man City and Spurs, then they go and lose to Newcastle and Watford at home. I think this will be a fifth successive defeat for them in all competitions.

Prediction: 2-1

Chris Stott: 2-2

Chris Coughlin: 2-1

Ryan Kirk: 1-1

Wolves v Aston Villa - Saturday 2nd April (3pm)

Ryan Kirk

I'm not sure I'll ever be able to explain what happened at Molineux before the international break. Wolves had one of the most comfortable 2-0 leads I've seen in recent Premier League history and, even with Jimenez's red card, I didn't see such a dramatic turnaround. Villa will be frustrated with the nature of their 1-0 defeat to Arsenal. I can see this being a decent game.

Prediction: 1-1

Chris Stott: 1-1

Chris Coughlin: 1-2

Harry Reynolds: 1-0

Joe Richardson: 1-0

Man Utd v Leicester - Saturday 2nd April (5:30pm)

Chris Stott

United just have to keep winning to stand any chance of making the top four but there's just so much wrong with the club at all levels. Leicester, meanwhile, will have more than one eye on the Europa Conference League with pretty much being their only route into European football next season. I think it could still be a struggle but I'll go for United to edge it.

Prediction: 2-1

Chris Coughlin: 2-0

Ryan Kirk: 2-1

Harry Reynolds: 2-1

Joe Richardson: 2-1

West Ham v Everton - Sunday 3rd April (2pm)

Harry Reynolds

The last three meetings between these sides have ended with a 1-0 win, all for the away team. I don’t think there’s much chance of that streak continuing however, with Everton avoiding defeat on the road once since the start of October. West Ham will have more of a focus on the Europa League, but they’re still far too organised for an Everton team who have been less than goal-shy recently.

Prediction: 2-0

Chris Stott: 2-0

Chris Coughlin: 2-1

Ryan Kirk: 3-1

Joe Richardson: 2-1

Tottenham v Newcastle - Sunday 3rd April (4:30pm)

Joe Richardson

Spurs as a team might be disjointed and inconsistent, but the fact Harry Kane and Heung Min Son are on top form could well give them the edge in the top 4 race. I fancy those two to have too much for Newcastle, who are now well clear of safety.

Prediction: 3-1

Chris Stott: 2-0

Chris Coughlin: 2-0

Ryan Kirk: 2-0

Harry Reynolds:2-1

Crystal Palace v Arsenal - Monday 4th April (8pm)

Joe Richardson

This run in is the acid test of Mikel Arteta and his likeable but experienced side. Games away to Palace can be tricky, as was proved by them holding Manchester City to a draw. I think the home side’s lack of goals could be the deciding factor and I fancy Arsenal to nick it.

Prediction: 0-1

Chris Stott: 0-1

Chris Coughlin: 0-2

Ryan Kirk: 1-1

Harry Reynolds: 0-1
