Premier League 2021/22 - Predictions 22nd May

This season, the team's predictions will be available in weekly articles.

It's the final weekend with plenty to play for and all games kicking off at 4pm.

Read our pundits predictions below

Arsenal v Everton

Harry Reynolds

Arsenal looked completely empty after their chastening defeat by Newcastle on Monday. There’s no two ways about it, they’ve absolutely blown the chance to return to the Champions League after a five-year absence. It’ll be very hard for the players to pick themselves up from that game and the heavy defeat by Spurs, while Everton head to the Emirates with complete freedom having secured their Premier League status for next year. Frank Lampard has done brilliantly to revive the team and the connection with the fans, and there’s every chance they could pile on the misery for the Gunners.

Prediction: 0-1

Ryan Kirk: 3-0

Chris Coughlin: 2-0

Chris Stott: 1-1

Joe Richardson: 2-2

Brentford v Leeds

Ryan Kirk

I didn't expect Leeds to be in this position at the start of the season but it really is do or die on Sunday. I can't see anything less than a win being good enough and even that may not be enough. To make matters worse they're coming up against a Brentford team who've won even of their last ten to end the campaign and have been really impressive since the signing of Christian Eriksen. I think we'll be saying goodbye to Jesse Marsch's men this weekend.

Prediction: 2-2

Chris Coughlin: 2-1

Brighton v West Ham

Burnley v Newcastle

Harry Reynolds

I think Burnley will do enough to stay up. The point at Aston Villa was huge for them, and if Leeds don’t win at Brentford then a draw will be enough here. Newcastle will want to win to keep their momentum going ahead of next season, but their motivation just can’t be anywhere near as high as Burnley’s. Mike Jackson has done incredibly well to even get them in this position, and irrespective of their survival you’d have to say he’s probably secured the job on a permanent basis next term.

Prediction: 1-0

Ryan Kirk: 1-0

Chelsea v Watford

Crystal Palace v Manchester Utd

Chris Coughlin

This afternoon could compound Manchester United's season. If they lose or draw at Selhurst Park and West Ham win at Brighton then the Red Devils will play in the Europa Conference League next season. That was beyond unthinkable at the start of the campaign with the additions of Jadon Sancho, Raphael Varane and Cristiano Ronaldo. Erik Ten Hag knows, whatever the outcome on Sunday, he has a big task on his hands to turn this team around.

Prediction: 2-1

Ryan Kirk: 2-1

Chris Coughlin: 2-1

Chris Stott: 2-1

Joe Richardson: 1-1

Leicester v Southampton

Harry Reynolds:

There hasn’t been much said about Ralph Hasenhüttl’s job security, which is peculiar because he is taking this Southampton team backwards. They’ve been on a horrible run of form for some time, and although he hasn’t exactly had masses of money to spend on players, they do lose a lot of games. They may finish the season in 16th depending on Everton’s result, having won only once since the start of March. Leicester have also been very disappointing this season, but this is a great chance to end their campaign on a high.

Prediction: 3-0

Ryan Kirk: 3-1

Chris Coughlin: 2-0

Joe Richardson: 2-1

Liverpool v Wolves

Ryan Kirk: 2-0

Man City v Aston Villa

Chris Coughlin

The narrative is there. Steven Gerrard, Phillippe Coutinho & even Danny Ings heading to the Etihad to spoil the Manchester City party and hand Liverpool the Premier League title. However, I just can't see that becoming reality. Barring last week's draw at West Ham, which should've been all three points, City have too good in this run-in for anyone to even think about taking points off them. I expect Pep Guardiola's side to secure a fourth Premier League title in five years.

Prediction: 3-0

Ryan Kirk: 4-1

Chris Stott: 3-1

Harry Reynolds: 2-0

Joe Richardson: 3-1

Norwich v Spurs

Ryan Kirk: 0-2

Chris Coughlin: 0-4

Chris Stott: 0-4

Harry Reynolds: 0-4

Joe Richardson: 0-3
