All Time Super League Dream Team: Rob's Picks

Our Rugby League panel have each picked an all time Super League dream team, with a twist! Only 3 players could be chosen from each club - and they had to have played in the competition for at least 2 seasons.

Here's the 17 and Head Coach chosen by ROB LEE...

Full Back: KRIS RADLINSKI (Wigan Warriors)

Hardest worker on the pitch, hardest worker off the pitch. His ability to never give up carried a team and I’ll never forget the foot of god in the Challenge Cup.

Winger: LESLEY VAINIKOLO (Bradford Bulls)

The volcano! His record for tries scored in a season took a decade to beat. Enough said.

Centre: JAMIE LYON (St Helens)

On his day best Centre on the planet not just Super League. Couldn’t play against him and I’d say in contention for best player in super league ever.

Centre: RYAN ATKINS (Warrington Wolves)

I’d have picked players before him if the rules allowed, but his ever present speed and physicality made him a pain to play against.

Winger: JASON ROBINSON (Wigan Warriors)

The original, one and only billy whizz! His speed and balance made him lethal from anywhere on the pitch. Scored one of the best tries Central Park has ever seen.

Stand Off: DANNY MCGUIRE (Leeds Rhinos)

If he was on your team he was the best, on the opposition he was the worst. Best supporting player in the Super League era.

Scrum Half: PAUL DEACON (Bradford Bulls)

The baby-faced assassin. It was rare to see a game that wasn’t played a the speed and tempo that he wanted it to be played at.

Prop: STUART FIELDEN (Bradford Bulls )

He was huge, took a whole team to bring him down. Took some stopping and was a loss to bradford when he went to Wigan.

Hooker: JAMES ROBY (St Helens)

Probably the fittest player on the pitch his ability to go for 80 minutes and top the tackle count made him the best hooker ever.

Prop: ADRIAN MORLEY (Warrington Wolves)

Moz - will never forget his red card against Australia at the JJB stadium but at Warrington he was a power house.

Second Row: CHRIS JOYNT (St Helens)

The wide to West try speaks enough that he was on the end of the play to finish it off. His graft and work rate was phenomenal and his burning passion to win boosted everyone else in the team.

Second Row: JAMIE PEACOCK (Leeds Rhinos)

Big hard player that could do a job in the second row or props if you wanted him too. In fact most positions on the pitch he’d probably cover and excel at. His all time appearance record in the Dream Team and the ability to keep playing to a mature age made him impossible to play against in any year.

Loose Forward: ANDY FARRELL (Wigan Warriors)

I can’t say what I’d actual call him (a less PC term for an outhouse) - he was lethal with ball in hand, even more lethal without it. Could kick a goal or two, could carry the weight of the team on his shoulders and you wouldn’t know and he was the perfect leader. Oh and you’d always find him in the middle of a fight, not because he wanted a fight but because he wanted to defend what he fought for.

Interchange 1: ROB BURROW (Leeds Rhinos)

Absolute magician. See Grand Final try Vs St Helens. That’s all I need to put here.

Interchange 2: ANDY LYNCH (Castleford Tigers)

Two solid stints at Castleford, yeah you probably forgot about the first one, the one that earned him that spot in a high flying Bradford Bulls side. His second stint at Cas was as impressive as his first as well.

Interchange 3: DAVID SOLOMONA (Wakefield Trinity)

Strange one this, but similar to above, Solomona shone at Wakefield with 26 tries in 76 appearances and earned him a place with the Bradford Bulls in 2007 and then he went on to play for Warrington. Got a couple of challenge cups too.

Interchange 4: GARETH ELLIS (Hull FC)

Played hard, played big and played long. Was a rock for Hull FC when they were flying high a few seasons ago. Won lots with Leeds (but who didn’t in that team) in the Hull colours he doubled up on Challenge Cups in 2016 and 2017.

Head Coach: MICHAEL MAGUIRE (Wigan Warriors)

Spent two seasons in Super League and you’ll be saying Brian Noble won more, Shaun Wane was more successful following him. But in two season Maguire completely changed the way that rugby league was played in Super League. You look at the structure now and trace it back all goes back to Maguire.
